Electronic Document Professional (EDP) Application Fee
Application Fee: $50 USD (one-time, non-refundable)
The Electronic Document Professional (EDP) certification recognizes experienced professionals who have demonstrated broad knowledge, industry experience, and professional achievement across the customer communications, document, and communications management industry.
This payment covers the initial review of your EDP Certification Application.
Before You Apply
To be eligible for EDP Certification, applicants should:
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of industry experience
- Have earned at least 100 Certification Credits through education and/or knowledge sharing activities
- Agree to the EDP Code of Ethics
- Be prepared to demonstrate professional competency through either a portfolio review or online certification examination
What Happens Next?
After your application and supporting documentation are reviewed:
If Approved
You will be recognized as an EDP Candidate and may begin the certification process.
As an EDP Candidate, you may choose one of two certification paths:
Option 1: Portfolio Evaluation
- Submit three work examples
- Complete the Work Example Summary Forms and Skills Matrix
- Provide supporting documentation demonstrating your knowledge, experience, and professional achievements
- Submit the Evaluation Fee
Option 2: Online Certification Examination
- Register for the online EDP Certification Examination
- Complete a 125-question examination
- Two-hour time limit
- Based on content found within the EDP Body of Knowledge and certification resources
Evaluation Fee
$300 USD (one-time)
The Evaluation Fee is paid when you select either the Portfolio Evaluation or Online Certification Examination path.
Candidate Timeline
Most candidates complete the certification process over several months. Approved candidates may take up to two years from application acceptance to complete their certification requirements.

The Electronic Document Professional (EDP) Certification Program is administered by the cXm Professionals Association (CXMPA). The program continues the long-standing EDP certification tradition originally established through Xplor International and is governed by the EDP Commission.
